In 2020 Talis undertook a damage assessment survey of the Shire’s Kalumburu and Port Warrender Roads to quantify damage associated with Tropical Cyclone Esther which occurred in February 2020. This assessment, which provided a key input into a DRFA funding application, highlighted the importance of having accurate and readily identifiable evidence of the condition of the road network both before and after sever weather event. Under the funding agreements, the absence of pre-damage evidence can potentially lead to reduced funds being available to the Shire for reinstatement.
