Stock Road Extension Project Wins Double Awards at IPWEA WA State Conference

| 2 min read

The Stock Road Extension project was recognised for its excellence at the IPWEA WA State Conference 2024, receiving both “The G.K Watters Local Government Engineering Excellence Award” and the “Best Public Works Project – Greater than $5.0M Award.”

Talis Consultants served as the Superintendent for the City of Swan’s (the Client) Stock Road Extension project in Bullsbrook, WA (the Project). The project upgraded Stock Road from a ‘no-through’ road to a connector road, linking Great Northern Highway to Tonkin Highway (NorthLink WA) and was valued at approximately $50M. The construction encompassed various key components, including a 4.3km two-lane road, intersections, a roundabout, a single-span bridge, rail crossing signalling upgrades, new sewer pressure main installations and service relocation works.

As Superintendent, Talis collaborated with the City of Swan, Head Contractor Ertech, Industry Specialists and other Stakeholders to ensure that construction adhered to contract specifications and industry standards. Joseph Mowat and Ken Wilyman in collaboration with other members of the Talis Engineering Team, represented Talis as Superintendent and were responsible for the administration of the construction contract, site inspections, coordinating with the Client, Contractor and other diverse teams to uphold high-quality and safety standards from construction initiation to completion. Talis was also responsible for the assessment and approval of hold points (in consultation with Approving Authorities), while monitoring risk factors and deadlines.

Talis’ role as Superintendent on the Stock Road Extension project exemplifies our proficiency in handling multifaceted civil engineering projects, and our commitment to delivering infrastructure projects designed to elevate and positively impact the communities in which we operate.

Congratulations to the City of Swan, head construction contractor Ertech, and all involved for this outstanding achievement.
