Colleen Panizza and Andrew Mack recently returned to university—not as students, but as guest lecturers for the next generation of industry professionals. They delivered a lecture to master’s students enrolled in ENG621 Land Use Planning, a unit within Murdoch University’s M1330 ESSE Masters of Engineering Practice graduate program.
Their lecture provided an in-depth look at the key approvals processes in Western Australia for the construction and operation of waste management infrastructure. They covered critical topics such as Part IV referrals and Part V approvals, which play a significant role in regulatory compliance. In addition, they explored broader project delivery strategies and emphasised one of the most vital aspects of successful project implementation: community engagement and consultation.
