Pavement Management and dTIMS v9 Implementation | Talis Asset Management

Talis Consultants has extensive experience in pavement management for local government authorities across Australia. In 2015 Talis was contracted to assist the Shoalhaven City Council in the implementation of the latest dTIMS pavement modelling tool, with the goal of optimising road network expenditure.  The Shoalhaven City Council manages approximately 1,263 kilometres of sealed and 394 kilometres of unsealed roads in the south-eastern coastal region of New South Wales. The council asset management team required a bespoke pavement management model tailored to the Shoalhaven road network, with the ability to overcome disorganised condition data and host of uncodified existing internal practices.    The work involved the analysis of condition data to determine deterioration patterns for both pavement and surface assets. Other model components, including treatment selection business rules, were developed to replicate the current pavement management practices and processes of the council. This model was then coded and implemented in dTIMS and is now used to predict the requirements of current and future road network investments.  The model creates pavement maintenance and renewal strategies for specifically defined road sections. The Shoalhaven team can use the system to calculate the budget required to actively maintain the network to specified service standards, and optimise their treatment strategies to ensure the condition of the network is maximised for the available budget.  Talis continues to provide hosting, training and support for the dTIMS system.
